The thirteenth!
In the afternoon we heard that my son was to a huge fire at the other side of the highway.
We could see the smoke appearing above the other houses in our neighbourhood.
But when we heard that they managed to get the fire under control, we thought the sensation of the day was over.
We sat down with a coffee and waited for the rest of the photos to be published on his online paper.
Then suddenly a huge BANG, the floor was shaking, we felt the windows trembling, the doors trying to open and the mugs clashing against each other on the shelves.
First reaction: a bomb!! But why would there be a bomb??
Second reaction: gasexplosion!!
My daughter hurried downstairs and I ordered her to look in front of the house, and I went to the back to see if maybe the tankstation where the fire was earlier had exploded. If that would be the case my son would be hurt, as he certainly would still be there.
Nothing!! Phew.
A friend lives near where the explosion came from. Her son had run toward the explosion and had told that the roof was from the house.
Then my son called: gasexplosion, tremendous ravage. None killed. One man was found in the rubble. He lived in the house. Said he was cooking and went to the toilet.
Others stated he liked alcohol and was in a troubled mental state. Later the house owner stated the man was not known there as a trouble seeker.
I was outside, trying to see if there was a fire too. But I just saw some white smoke above the houses at the other side of the street.
Had a talk at a good social distance with one of the nice women of our neighbourhood and agreed to drink coffee when Covid-19 is over. So something good came out of this.
But we trembled all day...like being in war and waiting for another blast.
