No,in UK alcohol not banned

They pop up like daisies, are liked like daisies, and shared like the best sweets: The fakemessages on facebook and other social media.

This time an announcement.
Looks real with the UK government and the National Health Service logos on top.

The text claiming that under “emergency legislation” the NHS has ordered a ban on the sale, purchase and consumption of alcohol.
It has been discovered that alcohol lowers immunity, the message states.

And of course many started the share the message, without checking the relevant sites.

Thus without finding out that there hasn't been such a discovery, and there isd no such ban.

It;s true however that the government has ordered pubs, clubs and restaurants to close.

But off-licences, other licensed shops and supermarkets have been allowed to stay open.

And there is no ban on drinking in the privacy of your home.

It's about social distancing that the clubs, pubs and restaurants have been closed.

But... (there is almost always a but...) there is a ban on alcohol somewhere else in the world.
In South Africa.
